*snaps for Newsweek*

New interview with Kellan!

Newsweek has published a very interesting article about Twilight and Stephenie's perhaps unintentional vision of instilling better morals and standards for the average teenage fan. Unlike the Times review, Newsweek puts Stephenie's accomplishments of helping girls stay pure in a good light this time. Maybe girls are doing it for the wrong reason (for example, abstaining only because Edward does so) but it still means less broken hearts and STD's. I'm not saying that's what always happens but I think on the majority, it does.

OK, enough preaching. I know there's been tons of news lately so make sure you scroll down a bit and check out everything that's been going on.

FUNNY STORY: RachelBlack (from the forums) has informed me that while she was listening to Imprint: A Twilight Podcast, Andrew Sims, host of Imprint and Mugglecast, mentioned that he would have loved to have the name Bite Me but it was already taken. OWNED. I've been having a bit of a grudge againt Mr. Sims because it looks like he will also be dominating the Twilight fandom that the Bite Me's have worked so hard so become a significant part of. BUT ON THE SUNNY SIDE, Andrew might have actually checked our blog!! YAY! (It's a love/hate relationship.)

Edit by Michelle:
the QOTD (from stepheniemeyer.com) is:

Seth: You'll hurt her. Let her go.

I think if my mom ever said, "Lets talk about sex because the characters in Twilight are dealing with it." I would cry. Way to make me totally squick over the sex-talk. And I don't squick easy. It's so Dr. Phil to use a book that way.

Hmmm... I don't know about anyone here, but I don't bond with my mother over Twilight.... She makes fun of me for reading it- Shes like "Hows EDWARD today? hmmm? go read your summer reading" and if she tried to diverge into a sex talk becuase of this book it would A- ruin the book and B- probably go down like the sex talk Bella had with Charlie.

but yay for purity!

lol caroline i totally agree, if that ever happened i would scream and run away like lol it would so be just like the bella and charlie talk!! But i mean like in terms of the book everyone ahs their own opinion about what they want to happen, i really dont even know anymore i just want to have it in my hands and finally read what really happens.

oh my goodness... my mom has a very similiar taste in books as me so as soon as I finished twilight I told her she had to read it. When she did, she fell inlove with edward too... its so funny though because she talks about it with me as if shes my best friend sitting next to me. If she ever tried to give me a sex talk using the book as an example i would probably scream and run in a circle with my hands on my head... but my mom wouldnt do that thank goodness... the funnier thing is that the other day we got into an argument over who gets edward.. infront of my dad! he was like looking at us crosseyed. I totally agree though, twilight should not be an introduction to that specific talk. way to make it all charlie bella style. haha!

just read the article...
my mom doesnt read twilight but if she did i dont think it would be all to ackward for her to bring it up that way... its better than just like ..."so.. emmie.. r u having sex?" lol
but it might just be me, cuz my mom and i are close and we talk about that kinda stuff without any ackwardness...

Well let me just start out to say that the Times article got owned as well as Andrew Sims hahah. I was listening to Imprint as well and herd them say the podcast Bite Me and thought HELL YES! Wizards may have brooms but you all got the better name! On one last note about Imprint I really think you all have a better site (It is a lot more fun and you actually post the news when it come out lol). Sorry about that rant but, I was really happy with this Newsweek article it showed the good side of the books and what it teaches the girls that read it.
